Day 2 in D.C.
Talked to Chelcie tonight and she had a great day! She had a good night of sleep and is feeling rested. By 8:30 a.m. they were at the Capitol. It was closed to tours for construction so that was a bit disappointing. Then to the Supreme Court to hear a case at 10 but it was too crowded and there would not have been enough seats for the whole group so they headed over to the Library of Congress and the White House for a photo stop. It was great to get text messages from her throughout the day letting me know what she was up to .... even texting me pics of the Capitol and the White House! They spent the afternoon visiting the World War II Memorial and taking a tour of Mt. Vernon and then on to the National Archives checking out the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights. Photos of these treasures are not allowed so I encouraged her to just appreciate the memories! She was surprised at the neatness of the handwriting on these documents since they were written by "boys". Funny girl! They headed back to their hotel by 10 p.m. and we got a wonderful phone call from her.
