New Year's Eve

New Year's Eve was spent with great friends.....Craig & Michelle Ostendorf, Darren & Terri Sawdey and Dave and Tammie Sue Price. The big girls all hung out with Chelcie at our house as Chelcie was babysitting two little girls. Nick came over too.....interesting to hear that he let the girls pluck his eyebrows....not sure what that was all about but I hear Chelcie has video??? Anyway, Madison went with me and hung out with her buddies Emily and Lauren over at the Ostendorfs. Doug worked his valet job at the prestigious "Vintage Country Club". By 9 o'clock all cars were parked so he just hung out watching Chris Farley on his ipod....very exciting! He did get to check out a Phantom Rolls Royce (I hope I got that right Jeff) and was quite taken with it. Apparently there are only 100 made each year and 3 of them are in our valley. There is definitely a different world behind all of those country club gates! I was having a bit of a hard time with him going to work as we have spent every New Year's Eve together since 1985 and my heart hurt being separated from him. I did call him at midnight and saved that kiss for him for when he got home about 1:30. I spent my evening among my very best friends and they were amazing! We had a great time of prayer together. Craig was feeling led to have us call on the Lord to give thanks for His incredible blessings and to make our requests for 2008. Specifically I am thankful for God's amazing provision for us during these times and for His comfort. I am thankful for amazing friends that are closer than blood and for a wonderful family! I am praying specifically for God to strengthen Doug with wisdom to lead our family as well as his current job situation. Also, that God would continue to create within my daughters hearts that desire to love and follow Him. I am also praying that God would sustain Doug and I as we work our extra hours for the time being. Lastly, my prayer is that I will not be so consumed with the pressures of my schedule so that I can sit quietly in the presence of the One who wants to carry my load! I was so thanful for this aspect of my evening....so totally unexpected! OK, so we didn't just sit around praying all evening! We hung out, ate yummy appetizers, played 80's karyoke on play station....Tammie Sue and I did pretty well singing to Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" if I do say so myself! By 12:01 Michelle was ready for us to get out so she could go to sleep. I headed home to get in my jammies and wait up for my Love to come home.
