Where does the time go???
Can you tell that life is back in full swing in the White Household?! Over a week since my last post. Let' see last Tuesday I had a "Sneak Peek" at Dream Dinners where I invited friends for a private party and they got to come and make a meal to take home and try. Check out Sandy's blog for pics of her making her yummy Carribean pork roast. That night was also Back To School Night at Chelcie's school and Doug went with her and traveled around to her 9 classes! Wednesday was a Jr. High event at church called CHAOS. I worked registration and Doug worked security. This is a great outreach event and we had about 400 kids which is a good turnout for the first of 5 of these types of events that we have during the school year. CHAOS actually stands for "Christ Has All Our Solutions" but the word chaos itself is a pretty good description! Just kidding. The kids spend about an hour outside with inflatables, golf cart races, pizza, Dippin' Dots, and just hanging out and having fun. The last hour they head indoors and we usually have a band, a guest speaker or something exciting for them. This time we had a world class illusionist that is a friend of our Jr. High Pastor and he does a great job of using his talents to explain that Jesus is no illusion that He is the real deal and His power in our lives can achieve amazing things! The goal of the event is to have unchurched kids come and check out our ministry and eventually get involved. Friday night Doug worked at a church event for 5th graders -- they just love him! He was able to play Capture the Flag with them with minimal soreness the following day and also recite the entire dialogue of the original Willy Wonka movie...the evening also included a Wonka Bar for each kid! Chelcie headed off to the La Quinta High football game with friends (La Quinta won...Go Blackhawks!) and Madison and I hung out with some of her friends. Saturday and Sunday, the girls went to visit Grammy! They love going to visit her. Their visit included shopping, going to the movies, eating out ......what's not to love? Marjie was able to come out to our house on Sunday afternoon to bring the girls home and have dinner with us (Dream Dinners manicotti...YUMMY!) and we had a nice visit. I will try to be better this week with my posts!
