Cupcake is actually a "Princess"...
yep, that's right, Princess is her name! She belongs to a family down the street and they had put flyers around the neighborhood in search of their little "escapee". The girls and I took her back to her grateful owners and they were so happy to have her home. The family actually has a son that is in Madison's class at school and when we took the dog back to them, Madison said that he didn't even say that he lost his dog! Anyway, the loop is now complete and the girls were able to see the joy that they could bring the family by doing what is right! It was an interesting encounter with the lady that we returned the dog to. She invited us in and we got to talking and I mentioned that I work at Southwest Community Churh and she started talking about how weird that was because her and her husband had recently been talking about going to church. They moved here from Hacienda Heights a few years ago and have 2 elementary age boys and ended up having another baby who is now 2. She said that "life" has been happening and they just have not made God and going to church a priority. She said that they have gone to a few different churches but have never found one they really connected with and they were curious about Southwest. We talked for about an hour and I encouraged her to come and give it a try as it would be a great place for them as a couple and for their kids too! We have a rather large church and it can be intimidating so I did offer to caravan over on Sunday and show them around, where to take their kids, etc., if they would like. For being a complete stranger, I was amazed at how much she felt comfortable sharing with me. I am thankful to the Lord for this encounter and for how He worked in this circumstance. It seems that little Princess' escape and return had a greater meaning than I could ever have thought! We are praying that the Lord will move them to come to church and find it to be a loving, welcoming place for them.
