Got to catch Chelcie's game today and watched a sad loss to Palm Springs High School. We love you #9!!!
It's been a while.....
Besides being extremely busy, I guess I didn't get the memo that I needed to manage my blog at a different web address. This means nothing to anyone reading this. I am now officially caught up........
Loving this verse....
"Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not look anxiously about you, for I am your God. I will strenthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will hold you up with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10
We were challenged by our Pastor to memorize this verse and I have. God is amazing in that as we might find ourselves facing challenges that might instill fear, He gives us His word and promises. I find myself really clinging to this one at this particular time. There is such power in committing His word to our hearts, recalling it in order to combat fear and worry and then vocalizing His word...such amazing power.
What a great day we had up at Oak Glen. This is an annual tradition with lots of great friends. We headed out early Saturday up to apple country (eating our wonderful pumpkin scones!). We had fun picking apples and even pears this year. Doug was often times found in the bushes picking blackberries..yummy! We had a great day in the cold, cloudy and even drizzly weather. We packed a lunch and had a picnic at a different farm that we like. After lunch we got to partake in the bakery items they have there: apple pie (w/vanilla ice cream)for Doug, apple crisp for Kym, carmel apple for Madison, and plain vanilla ice cream and hot cocoa for Chelcie! We had a great day.
After 2 away games, we finally got to catch Checie's first home game. She is loving volleyball and is really enjoying getting to know the game. She is a setter and is having fun with that. More to come......BTW, she's #9.
We headed to Downey to celebrate Corynn, Camdyn & Nick's birthdays. It was nice to see family and hang out!
I guess two years in a row now makes it an "annual" hike! Even though he said he'd never do it again, Doug and his buddies hiked up Mt. San Jacinto on a beautiful Saturday morning. They had a great time and Doug said he wasn't as sore as he was last year....progress??
Chelcie had, what started off to be, a great first day of high school. By 2:30, however, she was not feeling too well.....being a mean mom, I told her to go to volleyball practice and see how she'd do. By 4, she called back and just couldn't finish practice and her coach said she didn't look too good. Poor thing came home, dropped onto the couch and was out. When I went to wake her up I realized she was burning up! She had a 101.8 temp and was not doing well at all. After a shower and homework, she headed to bed by 8:00....this morning it wasn't much better. A trip to urgent care resulted in a diagnosis of probable strep throat and some penicillin! We are hoping she will be feeling better tomorrow once she gets some of the antibiotics on board. So she missed her 2nd day of high school....we'll see how day 3 goes!
Madison had a great first day at school today! She has her first "man teacher" and he is just wonderful. He keeps referring to his "inner 10 year old" and likes to keep the kids busy learning and having fun and is definitely not boring! He told the class that his mom made him promise that when he became a teacher that he would not load his students down with homework....Madison and I are praising the Lord for that mother of his! She is really looking forward to this school year.
