Hsm3_1_
Whoo Hoo.....headed to the theater this afternoon with LOTS of friends (including Nick!!!) to check out HSM3. Chelcie & Madison thought it was the best one of the 3 but as for me, well it was "OK". Great choreography and singing but no real memorable songs like 1 & 2. Doug actually did sit through it and was quite ready to get home for some football.....
Homecoming....

Homecoming brings back fond memories for me....especially way back in 1985 when Doug and I first got together!

Friday night was the football game and La Quinta actually beat Cathedral City High School 62 - 0....very exciting since we have lost every game so far this season! This is an exciting beginning for actual league play so we'll see how the season goes.

Saturday night was the Homecoming dance. Chelcie finally decided on Friday to go to the dance and was blessed to be able to borrow this beautiful dress from her friend. She had a great time and looked absolutely beautiful...wipe a tear (that's for you Jody!). Lolo and Nick came by to see her and get a few pics too.

Check out the last pic....good friends but I think he makes her heart skip a beat actually!

MUCH PRAYER IS NEEDED....

Osgood Family

This family is so very dear to us and are facing some extreme challenges at this time. Skip has been battling brain cancer for 5 years now. It has been amazing to see God at work through this family, their faithfulness and the family of Christ coming together. Recently, they were advised that Skip's cancer has spread to the other side of his brain and the outlook is grim. Skip has decided to forego any further treatment and would really like to spend his remaining time with his family. I have a link to their blog so if you are so inclined, check it out. Skip has requested an early Christmas so the "Osgood Family Christmas" will officially begin on November 22nd. Many families have come together and we are doing all we can to make this a very joyous and precious time for this family as Skip believes his time is short. They have an incredible attitude and Skip is looking forward to resting in God's arms once he gets there. They are in need of being held up in prayer as they continue now on this leg of the journey. Linda has specifically asked for these prayer requests: "for a gracious passing, gentle and kind. Pray for wisdom as I try to cover all our bases with compassion (times like this I just move into "doing" mode - its safer there). Pray that He will be glorified continually and that through this experience, God may be made real in the hearts of Skip's family. Pray for our girls that the right people may come along side of each of them to comfort them and point them to a Mighty loving God who hurts right along with them. Pray that they will stand firmly on the promises of a loving Heavenly Father who will not forsake them. Pray for Skip that he has peace knowing that he will rest in the arms of Jesus who will welcome him home, celebrating the mighty warrior that Skip has been."

The cell.....

Chelcie's biology class is learning about cells. Her teacher challenged them to come up with a creative project in order to identify the parts of a cell. Chelcie decided to make a cake and decorate it like a cell and label the parts. I think her class liked her presentation best because it ended with them all getting to eat the cake!

NBA comes to our town....

Mark treated Doug, Chelcie and Nick to a historical NBA game between the Phoenix Suns and the Denver Nuggets. It was the first NBA game to be held in an outdoor venue since the 1970's in Puerto Rico. The game was held right down the street at the Indian Wells Tennis Gardens stadium where the Pacific Life Open is held each year. We are Laker fans at heart but they had a great time seeing Shaq and Steve Nash play! Oh....the Suns lost.

It's been a while.....

Besides being extremely busy, I guess I didn't get the memo that I needed to manage my blog at a different web address. This means nothing to anyone reading this. I am now officially caught up........

Loving this verse....

"Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not look anxiously about you, for I am your God. I will strenthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will hold you up with my righteous right hand."  Isaiah 41:10

We were challenged by our Pastor to memorize this verse and I have. God is amazing in that as we might find ourselves facing challenges that might instill fear, He gives us His word and promises. I find myself really clinging to this one at this particular time. There is such power in committing His word to our hearts, recalling it in order to combat fear and worry and then vocalizing His word...such amazing power.

Happy Birthday Gramalene! We love you.
Happy Fall Y'all!

What a great day we had up at Oak Glen. This is an annual tradition with lots of great friends. We headed out early Saturday up to apple country (eating our wonderful pumpkin scones!). We had fun picking apples and even pears this year. Doug was often times found in the bushes picking blackberries..yummy! We had a great day in the cold, cloudy and even drizzly weather. We packed a lunch and had a picnic at a different farm that we like. After lunch we got to partake in the bakery items they have there: apple pie (w/vanilla ice cream)for Doug, apple crisp for Kym, carmel apple for Madison, and plain vanilla ice cream and hot cocoa for Chelcie! We had a great day.
