4 Busy Whites

Halloween means dressing up and heading to church for Harvest Fun Fair. Chelcie had dressed up for school so she was already to go. She was an 80's girl (I so remember my first cut up sweatshirt...so flashdance!). Madison was a doll (isn't she always just a little doll?) and I was, well, it dawned on me that I hadn't got anything together for myself so I just pulled on my jammies, put rollers in my hair and stuck on a blackhead cleaner strip and called it my costume!

Chelcie and her Bible study group handed out candy in the "Trunk or Treat" line, Lolo came and helped out at a game and Nick was my hero helping me with a bottle toss game. Yes, for 3 hours he set up bottles and I fetched softballs for kids to only knock them down for candy.....I was pooped out by the end of the evening but it was a fun way to serve our community.

Fun times!

Madison's class got to make plaster masks today and I got to go and help. It was quite the process starting with smearing Vaseline all over their faces (so the plaster wouldn't stick and the mask would come off easily), then strips of plaster were layered around their entire face and pressed in so that it would fit perfectly. It was very interesting to watch the kids try to get the masks off once they had dried! I left once the masks were all drying so it was fun to see how Madison had painted hers when I picked her up from school.

Homecoming brings back fond memories for me....especially way back in 1985 when Doug and I first got together!

Friday night was the football game and La Quinta actually beat Cathedral City High School 62 - 0....very exciting since we have lost every game so far this season! This is an exciting beginning for actual league play so we'll see how the season goes.

Saturday night was the Homecoming dance. Chelcie finally decided on Friday to go to the dance and was blessed to be able to borrow this beautiful dress from her friend. She had a great time and looked absolutely beautiful...wipe a tear (that's for you Jody!). Lolo and Nick came by to see her and get a few pics too.

Chelcie's biology class is learning about cells. Her teacher challenged them to come up with a creative project in order to identify the parts of a cell. Chelcie decided to make a cake and decorate it like a cell and label the parts. I think her class liked her presentation best because it ended with them all getting to eat the cake!

Mark treated Doug, Chelcie and Nick to a historical NBA game between the Phoenix Suns and the Denver Nuggets. It was the first NBA game to be held in an outdoor venue since the 1970's in Puerto Rico. The game was held right down the street at the Indian Wells Tennis Gardens stadium where the Pacific Life Open is held each year. We are Laker fans at heart but they had a great time seeing Shaq and Steve Nash play! Oh....the Suns lost.

Got to catch Chelcie's game today and watched a sad loss to Palm Springs High School. We love you #9!!!

What a great day we had up at Oak Glen. This is an annual tradition with lots of great friends. We headed out early Saturday up to apple country (eating our wonderful pumpkin scones!). We had fun picking apples and even pears this year. Doug was often times found in the bushes picking blackberries..yummy! We had a great day in the cold, cloudy and even drizzly weather. We packed a lunch and had a picnic at a different farm that we like. After lunch we got to partake in the bakery items they have there: apple pie (w/vanilla ice cream)for Doug, apple crisp for Kym, carmel apple for Madison, and plain vanilla ice cream and hot cocoa for Chelcie! We had a great day.
